Seamless continuity, future-ready systems
FlexGen has been court-approved to own a substantial portion of Powin’s business, including significant spare parts inventory, hardware IP, and software IP like Powin’s StackOS and Kobold.
During this period of transition, our mission at FlexGen is simple: ensure battery energy storage sites continue delivering maximum value today, while preparing assets to be resilient and ready for the grid of tomorrow.
FAQs: Transition support & what comes next
Q: What did FlexGen acquire as part of the Powin bankruptcy?
A: Upon closing of the acquisition, FlexGen's winning bid means ownership of Powin’s proprietary hardware IP (including spare parts), software IP, and IT systems. This gives our experts invaluable insights to best support Powin customers in maximizing their site performance.
Q: Is FlexGen worried about encountering the same issues that Powin did?
A: FlexGen has strategically taken a capital-light and hardware-agnostic approach to supporting the battery storage industry. And, as a profitable company with $250 million raised through series-C, we are confident in the future of our business operations.
Q: Will I continue to use my existing Powin software?
A: Yes. Your current tools remain in place initially, with an option to transition to FlexGen HybridOS® when you’re ready.
Q: How will you manage projects already in development or construction?
A: Depending on timing and scope of projects, each project in development will be managed case-by-case. By owning the software IP and existing battery and spare parts inventory, FlexGen is able to properly maintain operational sites and complete commissioning for underway projects, as needed.
Q: Do Powin customers need to sign a new agreement with FlexGen?
A: To continue proactive ROC support beyond August, a Transition Services Agreement will be required.
